This Sonoma County remodel involved structural reconfiguration to improve interior flow and functionality, including lifting the ceiling. Interior walls were removed to create an open living, dining and entertaining area, and new framing was added to establish a dedicated entry.
The kitchen was built with integrated appliances, a custom plaster hood, and a combination of walnut and painted cabinetry. Furniture-style cabinets were constructed for additional storage. Soapstone countertops were installed for durability and long-term performance. A concealed mini “messy kitchen” was built adjacent to the kitchen to contain messes and support everyday use without impacting primary living spaces.
A linear fireplace was framed and installed as a built-in architectural element within the living space. Exterior work included a front porch makeover, improving both access and curb presence.
“I have nothing but positive comments about Harkey Construction. They were the general contractors on a MAJOR new construction project and the workmanship and care was world-class. The entire Harkey team, including all of their subs, did incredible work. I still can’t believe how well everything turned out. This is truly the level of craftsmanship that I thought was no longer obtainable in the U.S. I recommend them whole-heartily.”
